Teddington Sub-Aqua Club
Rules

[ Home ]

All organisations have rules and TSAC is no exception. Diving can be dangerous, so our rules are intended to minimise the risks inherent in our sport. These rules are in addition to those of the British Sub-Aqua Club.

1. Equipment.
Club kit may only be used with the permission of the Diving Officer.

Club kit must not be altered or modified in any way, except under the supervision of an instructor acting with the permission of the Diving Officer.

2. Pool.
No kit may be used in the Pool without the permission of the Diving Officer. Members wishing to refresh skills or test kit must seek the permission of the Diving Officer in advance.

The Pool Marshal must be advised of your dive plan before you enter the water.

The Pool Marshal has the authority of the Diving Officer to prevent use of the pool if, in their opinion, safety standards are being compromised.

3. Training.
Training or instruction may only be conducted by suitably qualified instructors acting with the approval of the Diving Officer.

4. Diving.
Subscriptions and medicals (or self-declarations) must be up to date.

Authorised dives are carried out with the prior knowledge and approval of the Diving Officer.

Dive Marshals must hold the minimum grade of Dive Leader.

Signing up for a dive makes you liable for the full cost of that place. A deposit may be required, and full payment must be made in advance.

Ocean Divers may dive together, or with a Sports Diver, at the discretion of the Diving Officer.
Ocean and Sport Divers are limited to 20 metres depth.

A Sports Diver must not exceed 20 metres until they have performed a series of progressively deeper dives organised by the Branch. Then, suitably experienced Sports Divers may dive to 35 metres.

A Dive Leader must not exceed 35 metres until they have performed a series of progressively deeper dives organised by the Branch. Then, suitably experienced Dive Leaders may dive to 50 metres.

A pony cylinder is recommended for dives exceeding 30 metres. A twinset is recommended for dives exceeding 40 metres.

Dive Marshals must check that oxygen is available at dive sites, and that a member of the party is qualified to administer it.

5. If in doubt, ask.
