Fitness to Dive

There are certain medical conditions and histories which may mean that you will not be able to dive. It is for YOUR safety and well-being that these conditions have been identified. In order to join our Club, you need to undergo and pass a BSAC medical check-up. TSAC organises a 'Medical Evening' for the Wednesday night a week before each Ocean Diver course begins. The interview with our Doctor takes about 15 minutes, and costs £50. If you prefer, we can give you the paperwork and your GP can do the check-up and sign your 'Certificate of Fitness to Dive'. Thereafter, you simply sign a declaration of fitness every year.

Please note that TSAC requires ALL applicants for diving membership to pass a medical.

Our Club provides: Membership of BSAC provides:

If you are new to the BSAC when you join us, you will also need a 'Student Training Pack'. Or if you are already qualified to dive with another training agency, you will need a 'Crossover Pack'. Each costs around £35, and contains a Student Study Guide, Sport Diving Manual, Qualification Record Book and other training materials.

BSAC membership provides public liability insurance cover for members while they are involved in any BSAC related activity. The cover is Third Party Only. If you have personal accident cover, your insurers will probably want to know about your intention to dive. Similarly, if you go on to buy your own dive kit, your household contents insurance may need to be extended.

If you have any questions, you can contact : Or, better still, come down to the pool on a Wednesday night.
